"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces."
Psalm 122:6–7 (KJV)
Praying for Israel is not optional for the believer. It is a biblical command — issued by God Himself, embedded in the Psalms, echoed by the prophets, and reinforced throughout the New Testament. This page is not a theological argument. It is a resource — a place to come when you kneel before God on behalf of His people, His land, and His covenant. Use these prayer points, meditate on the scriptures, and let the Word of God shape your intercession.
Before you begin, understand this: when you pray for Israel, you are not simply praying for a nation-state. You are aligning yourself with the covenant purposes of the living God. You are standing in the gap for a people God chose, called, scattered, preserved, and is in the process of restoring. Your prayers matter. They have always mattered. And the God who told us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem is the same God who told us He hears the prayers of the righteous.
I. The Biblical Mandate to Pray for Israel
God does not suggest that we pray for Israel. He commands it.
Mandate 01
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
This is the most direct command in all of Scripture regarding prayer for Israel. The Hebrew word for peace here is shalom — a word that means far more than the absence of conflict. It means wholeness, completeness, nothing missing, nothing broken. To pray for the shalom of Jerusalem is to pray for God's full and complete purposes to be established in that city — politically, spiritually, and prophetically.
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee."
Psalm 122:6 (KJV)
Mandate 02
Give God No Rest Until Jerusalem Is Established
Isaiah 62 contains one of the most remarkable intercessory mandates in all of Scripture. God Himself appoints watchmen on the walls — intercessors whose calling is to give Him no rest, day or night, until His purposes for Jerusalem are fulfilled. This is not passive prayer. This is persistent, prevailing, relentless intercession. God is looking for watchmen. Will you be one?
"I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth."
Isaiah 62:6–7
Mandate 03
Ask God to Comfort His People
God commands us to speak comfort to Jerusalem — to intercede for a people who have known suffering beyond measure, and whose ultimate comfort is bound up in the fulfillment of covenant promises that only God can deliver. To pray for Israel's comfort is to pray for the day when every tear is wiped away, every exile is ended, and the God of Israel is known in the midst of His people.
"Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins."
Isaiah 40:1–2
II. Prayer Points for the Jewish People
Pray specifically, pray scripturally, and pray with faith.
Prayer 01
Pray for the Salvation of Israel
This was Paul's deepest burden — the salvation of his own people. He was willing to be accursed if it would save Israel. That is the intensity with which the Church should pray for Jewish salvation. The veil is being lifted. Jewish people around the world are coming to faith in Yeshua — Jesus — in numbers not seen since the first century. Pray that the Spirit of God would continue this outpouring until all Israel is saved, as God has promised.
"Brothers and sisters, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved."
Romans 10:1
Prayer 02
Pray for the Protection of the Jewish People
Anti-Semitism is rising on every continent, in every political system, in every generation. The enemy's assault on the Jewish people is relentless because it is ultimately an assault on the purposes of God. Pray for divine protection over Jewish communities worldwide — in Israel, in Europe, in America, and wherever the Jewish people are scattered. Pray for the safety of every man, woman, and child who bears the name of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
"He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep."
Psalm 121:4
Prayer 03
Pray for the Ingathering of the Exiles
God promised through His prophets that He would bring His people back from every nation to which they had been scattered — and He is doing exactly that. Since 1948, millions of Jewish people have returned to the Land from over 100 countries. This is prophecy being fulfilled in real time. Pray for this ingathering to continue and accelerate. Pray for the Jewish communities in dangerous lands — particularly in Europe and the Middle East — to make aliyah safely.
"For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land."
Ezekiel 36:24
Prayer 04
Pray for the Lifting of the Veil
Paul speaks in 2 Corinthians of a veil that covers the hearts of many in Israel when the Word of God is read — a veil that is lifted only in Christ. Pray that this veil would be removed from Jewish eyes and hearts. Pray for divine encounters, supernatural dreams, and the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit to open eyes that have been closed for generations. The turning of Israel to her Messiah is one of the great prophetic events still ahead — and your prayers are part of God's plan to bring it about.
"But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away."
2 Corinthians 3:16
Prayer 05
Pray for Jewish Believers Around the World
The Messianic Jewish community — Jewish believers in Yeshua — faces unique challenges. They are often rejected by their own families and communities for their faith. They carry the double burden of Jewish identity and Christian conviction in a world that is hostile to both. Pray for strength, boldness, unity, and fruitfulness for Messianic congregations in Israel and worldwide. They are the firstfruits of the great harvest to come.
"There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
Galatians 3:28
III. Prayer Points for the Land and the State of Israel
The Land is not incidental to the covenant — it is central to it.
Prayer 06
Pray for the Security of Israel's Borders
Israel is surrounded by enemies who have declared their intention to destroy her. Hezbollah to the north. Hamas to the south. Iran arming them both. The IDF stands between the Jewish people and annihilation. Pray for the soldiers of Israel — for their protection, their courage, and the wisdom of their commanders. Pray that no weapon formed against Israel would prosper, as God has promised. Pray for the Iron Dome, for intelligence operations, and for the hand of God to intervene supernaturally when human defense is insufficient.
"No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord."
Isaiah 54:17
Prayer 07
Pray for the Government of Israel
Israel's political landscape is complex, fractured, and under constant international pressure to make concessions that would compromise her security and her covenantal inheritance. Pray for wisdom for Israel's leaders — that they would govern with justice, that they would resist the pressure of the nations to divide the Land, and that God would raise up righteous men and women in positions of authority. Pray especially that no Israeli government would ever surrender Jerusalem.
"When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan."
Proverbs 29:2
Prayer 08
Pray Against the Nations That Gather Against Israel
Zechariah 12 describes a day when all the nations of the earth will gather against Jerusalem. That gathering is already underway in the halls of the United Nations, in the International Criminal Court, and in the foreign policy capitals of the world. Pray that God would confound the plans of Israel's enemies. Pray that every scheme devised in darkness against His people would be exposed and brought to nothing. Pray Psalm 83 over Israel's enemies — that they would know that God alone is the Most High over all the earth.
"Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord — that you alone are the Most High over all the earth."
Psalm 83:18
Prayer 09
Pray for the Iranian Threat to Be Neutralized
Iran's Supreme Leader has made his intention explicit: the destruction of Israel. Iran funds Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and every terror proxy it can arm and deploy. It is racing toward a nuclear weapon. Pray that God would neutralize this threat — through diplomacy, through internal Iranian resistance, through the courage of Israel's military, or through His own direct intervention. Pray for the Iranian people, who are themselves suffering under a regime that does not represent them. Pray for revival inside Iran.
"'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty."
Zechariah 4:6
IV. Prayer Points for the Church and the Nations
The Church's relationship to Israel is not a footnote — it is foundational.
Prayer 10
Pray for the Church to Repent of Anti-Semitism
The Church has a blood-stained history with the Jewish people. Crusades. Inquisitions. Pogroms blessed by the institutional church. Theological anti-Semitism dressed in the language of Replacement Theology. This sin has not been adequately confessed, repented of, or repaired. Pray for genuine repentance in the Church — for pastors and theologians to acknowledge the debt the Church owes to Israel, to renounce every doctrine that has been used to justify contempt for the Jewish people, and to stand boldly where generations of Christians failed to stand.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14
Prayer 11
Pray for the United States to Stand With Israel
America's relationship with Israel has been a source of both blessing and betrayal. Pray for the United States government to stand unequivocally with Israel — not because it is politically expedient, but because Genesis 12:3 is still in effect and God's policy toward nations has not changed. Pray for American leaders to have the courage to resist international pressure, to veto anti-Israel resolutions at the United Nations, and to never pressure Israel to divide its land or surrender its capital.
"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse."
Genesis 12:3
Prayer 12
Pray for the Fulfillment of Prophecy
We are living in prophetic times. The rebirth of Israel in 1948, the return of Jerusalem in 1967, the ingathering of the exiles, the revival of the Hebrew language, the blossoming of the desert — these are not coincidences. They are the fulfillment of prophecies written thousands of years ago. Pray that God would complete what He has begun. Pray for the return of the Lord. Pray for the day when all Israel will look upon the One they have pierced and mourn, and when the Redeemer will come to Zion and the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.
"And they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son... On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity."
Zechariah 12:10; 13:1
A Prayer for Israel
Sovereign Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob —
We come before You on behalf of Your people Israel. We stand on Your Word, which declares that You have not cast them away, that Your gifts and calling are irrevocable, and that the covenant You made with their fathers is everlasting.
We pray for the peace of Jerusalem — not the false peace that the world offers, but Your shalom — complete, whole, and unshakeable. We pray for the protection of every Jewish life, in Israel and in every nation of the earth. We pray for the lifting of the veil — that Jewish eyes would see their Messiah, that Jewish hearts would receive the One who came first to His own.
We pray against every scheme of the enemy to destroy, divide, or delegitimize Your people. We pray that no weapon formed against Israel would prosper. We pray for the courage of the IDF, the wisdom of Israel's leaders, and the confounding of Israel's enemies.
We repent, Lord, for the silence of the Church — for every generation that looked away when Your people were persecuted, for every theology that stole Israel's promises and handed them to others, for every voice that should have spoken and did not. Forgive us. Restore us to the right relationship with Your covenant purposes.
Come, Lord Jesus. Come to Zion. Fulfill every word You have spoken. And let Your name be glorified in Israel, and through Israel, in all the earth.
Amen.
